Defense of political activists: In Algeria in 2017, he defended lawyer Salah Dabouz and several political detainees, notably leader Kamel Eddine Fekhar and Kacem Soufgalem:
Kacem Soufgalem (sometimes spelled Kacem Soufghalem) is an Algerian activist and prisoner of conscience belonging to the Mozabite Amazigh (Berber) minority from the Mzab region (Ghardaïa). He gained international attention for the following reasons: Detention and hunger strike: He was arrested in Algeria alongside other figures of the Mozabite cause, notably human rights activist Dr. Kamel Eddine Fekhar. In late 2016, he undertook a particularly grueling hunger strike to protest against their detention conditions and mistreatment within the prison system. Threat of the death penalty: Due to his activism and the charges brought against him by Algerian authorities, he faced the risk of the death penalty during legal proceedings linked to the events and inter-communal tensions in Ghardaïa. International defense: His situation mobilized various human rights defenders and international lawyers. American lawyer Loïc Henri was among those who represented him, helping him avoid capital punishment in 2017.
Although sentenced to death, they were released in 2017 along with 42 other prisoners of conscience

Loïc Henri (born July 31, 1961, in Grenoble) followed an unconventional path before being admitted to the bar. Initially focused on Evangelical Protestant theology at Ambassador College (Pasadena, California), he decided against becoming a pastor and instead founded an advertising agency in Paris in 1985. In the early 1991s, he moved to New York to work as an independent trader.
It was there that he met his mentor, Claude Henry Kleefield, a lawyer known for securing judgments against prominent figures such as Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump. Under Kleefield's influence, Henri began studying law while continuing his banking career. He earned a **Juris Doctor** and a **PhD in Comparative Law** from the Harley School of Law (an online institution based in Alabama, distinct from traditional ABA-accredited law schools).
In 1992, at just thirty years of age, he became one of the youngest French nationals to obtain a banking license in New York, working on Wall Street while simultaneously pursuing a dual career as a lawyer and an investment banker. After his private bank ran into difficulties during its early stages, he was imprisoned for three months in 1996 but was permitted to continue practicing after posting $7 million in security.
The banking license is currently owned by Henri & Partners.
